Faculty Bios
Emerica Garrett pre-K
Ms. Garret holds an Associates Degree in Physiology and Liberal Arts from Kingsborough College. She earned a BA in Bilingual Elementary Education from Brooklyn College and a MA in Early Education from Fordham University. She started teaching at PS20 in 1995.
Robert Segarra kindergarten
Mr. Segarra received a BA from S.U.N.Y./College of Old Westbury with dual majors in Political Sociology and Performing Arts and has a MA in Elementary Education from Long Island University. He has been a teacher since 1985 and has taught at PS20 since 1996. "Though my wife and I live in the town of Oyster Bay and we raised our two sons there, I still feel as though I’m a city boy. My memories of growing up in Manhattan and being a product of the New York City public schools translate better here. I commute daily on the Long Island Railroad for the privilege of working with the wonderful students of the Clinton Hill School."
Arlene McMenemon first grade
Ms. McMenemon received a BA from St. Josephs with a dual major in Early Childhood Education and Art. She got her MA from Brooklyn College in the same two disciplines. She has taught at PS20 since 1990
Iris Montagna first/second grade
Ms. Montagna received a BA from St. Josephs college in Education and a MA in Science and Education from the College of Staten Island. She has taught for 10 years with the last 3 at PS20
Gail Anderson-Bunton second grade
Ms. Anderson received a BA in Education from Long Island University and a MA in Education from New York University. She has been a teacher her at PS20 for the past 10 years. "I live in the Clinton Hill / Fort Greene area of Brooklyn. I am married and have two boys Julian is 10 and Malik is 13. I love to read, my favorite author is Toni Morrison. I like to travel and I am a big time "movie buff". I love to teach. My students are full of energy, curiosity, and life."
Beyinnah Bostic third grade
Ms. Bostick recieved her BA in Education from Medgers Evers College and a MA in Education from Tuoro College. She started teaching at PS20 in 2002.
Nakkia Davis third grade
Ms. Davis earned her BA from Howard University in Biology and MA in Special and General Education from Touro College. She has taught at PS20 for the last 10 years.
Nakesha Nicks fourth grade
Ms. Nicks earned a BA in Criminal Justice from John Jay College and MA in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Long Island University. She started teaching at PS20 in 2000.
La'Vina Dixon fifth grade
Ms. Dixon received her BA from Hunter College in Social Work and her MA from Hunter College in Education. She started teaching in 1988 and has been at PS20 since 1998.
