FRI JAN 31th, 6 pm - PS20 MOVIE NIGHT PRESENTS THE BIGGEST LITTLE FARM
PS20 movie night The biggest little farm.png

Join us for free movie and popcorn!

A couple are followed through their successes and failures as they work to develop a sustainable farm on 200 acres outside of Los Angeles. A testament to the immense complexity of nature,

The Biggest Little Farm follows two dreamers and a dog on an odyssey to bring harmony to both their lives and the land. The land they've chosen, however, is utterly depleted of nutrients and suffering from a brutal drought. The film chronicles eight years of daunting work and outsize idealism as they attempt to create the utopia they seek... When the farm's ecosystem finally begins to reawaken, so does the Chesters' hope.

PS20 IS THE NEXT HOT SCHOOL IN BROOKLYN AND IN OUR DIVERSITY IS OUR BIGGEST STRENGTH!

How long have you been part of the PS20 family? Have you rated PS20 yet? Several parents did.

In websites like Great Schools, School Digger, Inside Schools PS20 shows as an "up and coming school" with a bright future ahead. As our PTA strives to fundraise for our Green Arts & STEAM programs, to provide scholarships to our 'in house' after-school programs, it's our economic and cultural diversity that shows as one of our most important strengths.

Your public opinions and reviews are important to make donors realize how much our school is worth of their support. If our community manage can do so much with insufficient funds, can you imagine what can be achieved with an extra financial help or donation to our kids! Please consider reviewing our school whenever you can - your opinion and feedback count and give more power & inspiration to our administration, PTA and SLT - School Leadership Team to keep developing the bright future we all want to make available to our children.

PS 20 KIDS' COUNCIL WAS ELECTED - Civics lives at PS20!

On election day, over 120 students privately voted, and each classroom elected two representatives to form the Kids Council. This group will help rethink how we can further increase the student-led civics focus of PS 20.

KIDS' COUNCIL MEMBERS ELECTED
4th grade Council Members
Lennon Watford/Jillian Maura, Serenity Jordan/Brianna Ahyoung, Noah Anderson/Khloe Wharton

5th grade Council Members
Ashaunti Mosley/Gianna Powell, Madison Taylor/Seoul Watson, Lea Cruz/Keira Biven

The Council meets each Thursday during lunchtime with Ms. Barbera and DK Holland of Inquiring Minds, a non-profit organization that offers democratic tools, processes, and programs that improve student engagement, self-reliance, and development.

Kids Council has been a program available to the upper grades of PS20 for five years as a tool to understand how children can effectively work together towards an agreed upon goal.

Each year has provided new revelations, including behavioral and self-esteem gains for both student participants and within the general class body. The experience demonstrates  that when students were freely engaged peer-to-peer to focus on a project, they can make big personal developmental advances that can extend to their peers. The Council is using a Learning Wall to compile ideas and thoughts.

Kids Council representatives will be on stage at monthly assemblies to share their plans with the entire school and ask questions to the student body at large, and students may speak with their representatives individually, too. They want to hear from all kids - including the younger ones! They are on a roll!
