AFTER SCHOOL OVERVIEW

PS20 is pleased to host two in-house, on-site After School programs: Good Success Kaleidoscope Kids (3K through grade 5) and PTA-run Mosaic (Pre-K through grade 5). There are several organizations that pick up from PS20 as well. If your child will be attending an after-school program in the fall, please provide your Ms. Colon and your classroom teachers with the name of the program and the day(s) your child is registered. If your child id attending an outside after-school program, please be sure to let them know the dismissal time and that they should be on time for pick-up.

MOSAIC

For families joining PS20 in Fall 2024, registration opens on Thursday, August 29 at 12pm noon and remains open on a rolling basis throughout the school year.

In the 2024-25 school year, the PTA will continue to run our in-house after school enrichment program, called Mosaic, is offered to students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Mosaic afterschool operates from Monday through Friday from 2:30/2:40pm until 6:00pm. Mosaic has a tiered payment system in an effort to better serve the entire PS20 community. In this system families must assess their own tuition tiers.

GOOD SUCCESS KALEIDOSCOPE KIDS

Good Success Kaleidoscope Kids After School and Out of School Time (OST) Program is offered to students from 3K to 5th grade.

Greetings Parents and caregivers! We have arts and crafts, homework help, French immersion class, organized sports, Teaching Artists, mentoring program and much much more. We appreciate our parents and we look forward to a fun filled and safe year! Kaleidoscope operates Monday through Friday from 2:30/2:40pm to 5:45pm. Pick up is at the security desk in the school entrance (note: there is a $1 per minute late fee after 6:00 PM).

REGISTRATION AND FEES

  • $50 non-refundable registration fee due by August 24, 2024 to secure enrollment.

  • After School:

    • $400 per month for Grades 1 - 5 students.

    • $450 per month for 3K + Pre-K + Kindergarten students.

    • $600 French Immersion Class

    • 10% sibling discount is available for full-time After School students.

  • Full day fee for Out-of-School Time (OST):

    • $75 for Kaleidoscope Kids

    • $95 for non-Kaleidoscope Kids

  • Your registration fee and ALL fees are paid to gskaleidoscopekids@gmail.com (with your CHILD'S NAME in the memo area), using Zelle. The monthly tuition is paid by the FIRST day of every month.

ON-SITE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

  • Chess Program: Impact Coaching Network will begin next school year! Fall semester runs from Sep 19, 2024 through Jan 30, 2025.

    SCHEDULE: Options for one or two days per week: Wednesday and/or Thursday. After pick-up, light snack in cafeteria, practice from 3-5 PM in Library.  Late pickup available until 6 PM for an extra fee.

    FEES: Register Today!
    One day per week = $745
    Two days per week = $1280 per semester
    Scholarships will be available.

    Competitions: Team competitions (local, city, state, & national) are scheduled.

  • The Anselmo Academy of Music and The Arts, formerly The Piano School of NYC, is thrilled to continue a wonderful partnership with the PS20 after-school school program.  For the Fall 2024 semester we will be offering onsite Group Piano classes to the students at PS20 on Tuesday and Wednesday.  We are a non-profit organization and have worked closely with many after-school programs in Brooklyn and NYC for over 20 years.  We offer private and group instruction on all instruments to students of all ages and experience levels.  Thank you to Ms. Colon for making the classes possible. All students will be invited to perform at our in-person end of the year Spring recital.  Our recitals are a fun way to celebrate music and to share what our students have learned throughout the school year with friends and family.

    SCHEDULE: Tuesdays or Wednesdays
    Group 1: Grades K + 1 (2:50-3:50pm)
    Group 2: Grades 2 - 5 (3:55-4:55pm) Group 2 students will need to be enrolled in extended day or brought back to campus

    FEES:

    • 12 Tuesday Sessions: $452. First class is Sep 24.

    • 12 Wednesday Sessions: $452. First class is Sep 25.

    • Scholarships will be available.

    Anselmo Academy instructors are highly qualified, music degree-holding professionals who have a passion for teaching and are excited to be a part of the PS20 program!

    We opened the application on July 10th, and the classes filled up in less than two hours. We sent an email to those who had expressed interest in the program. Unfortunately, due to limited space at PS 20, we weren’t able to secure additional classrooms this year, so we couldn't accommodate more children. Because of this, we couldn’t widely promote the program, knowing there wouldn’t be any new spots available. However, the program is still active, and we remain hopeful for future growth.

  • Have you checked your child's backpack or homework folder lately? Back in December, they tucked away an exciting surprise there - paper forms and consent slips for all 4th and 5th graders, introducing PS20's newest and thrilling initiative - an amazing opportunity for 4th and 5th graders to join a debate club!

    Led by PS20 dedicated and talented teachers, the club meets each Thursday from 2:50 pm to 3:50 pm. It's a fantastic chance for your child to engage, learn, and grow through the art of debating.
