September PTA General Meeting

Please join us for our first PTA General Meeting of the year - Thursday, September 22 at 6pm (Zoom details on Konstella)

PTA meetings are monthly opportunities to learn about what is going on at PS20, ask Ms. Barbera and the PTA Board any questions you might have and learn how to get involved. 📝A draft agenda will be sent out soon and if there's anything you want to make sure is covered, please feel free to email board@ps20.org 📧

While this one will be virtual, we're looking into doing in-person / hybrid meetings in the future. We hope you will join us!

  • UPDATE: Links to the meeting recording + slide presentation are now available in Parent Community and on Konstella.

Chat and Chew

PS 20 Parents:  "Chat and Chew"

Please Join Principal Barbera on September 20, 2022 at 4:30PM for the monthly Chat and Chew.

The purpose of the monthly Chat and Chew is to keep an open line of communication between families and staff in an informal setting.  Providing a forum for parents to communicate with one another, the Principal, Parent Coordinator, Assistant Principal UFT Rep, PTA Presidents etc. – it's a time to address and generate questions, share knowledge, and make suggestions.

Looking forward to being in community with you.

Visit the Scholastic Book Fair at P.S. 20 December 13-17

The P.S. 20 Scholastic Book Fair will run December 13-17.

The Book Fair is back for one week only! P.S. 20 will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair fundraising event from Monday, December 13 to Friday, December 17. All classes will have an opportunity to visit the Book Fair in the P.S. 20 auditorium during the school day. We will have age-appropriate books for all grades as well as books in French and Spanish! To get an idea of the hundreds of books that will be available at the fair, check out this Scholastic virtual flyer.

New this year: Morning and Afternoon Drop-In Hours and Family Nights for book shopping!

Stop by to preview books, buy books from your teacher’s class wish list, or do some holiday shopping.

  • Morning & Afternoon Drop In Hours: Stop by the Book Fair any day after drop-off from 8:20 - 9am or from 2:40pm - 4pm.

  • Family Nights: The Book Fair will be open late on Thursday and Friday from 4pm - 6pm. Bring the whole family!

How can you make your child and your class’s Book Fair visit a success?

• Send money to school with your child in a sealed envelope or baggie with your child's name on it. We will do our best to let you know in advance what day your class is coming to the Book Fair, but send it on Monday to be safe!

• Reach out to your teacher and/or class parent and volunteer to help chaperone your class visit to the Book Fair.

• Support all families of the PS20 community and donate to our Book Fair Equity Fund here. You can also send extra money to school and give directly to your teacher. We know that not all families are able to send money with their children. We do not want any child to be left out of the opportunity. Your donations to the Book Fair Equity Fund will be used at the discretion of the teachers to support children in all classes who have a need.

• Volunteer to help out at the Book Fair!! Volunteers are critical to the success of the Book Fair. Meet other parents, help the children during their shopping, and have fun while supporting your PS 20 community!

THANK YOU for supporting P.S. 20!  If you have any questions, please contact us at board@ps20.org

Line up your sitter now because it's time for a Parents Night Out Fundraiser!

Monday, December 6

6pm - 9pm

Tickets are $50 per person, which includes 2 drinks, pizza and light bites—all graciously donated by Roberta's! There’ll be tented outdoor seating, and additional food and drinks will also be available to purchase.

Click here to purchase tickets! Add-on donations are welcome—all proceeds benefit our amazing PS 20 school community.

Act fast, only 60 tickets available are available! Given the limited number of tickets available we kindly request that each family limit their purchase to 2 tickets to help ensure equitable access.

Parents Night Out is both a great opportunity to build community and raise funding for PS 20. The PTA will be organizing more Parents Night Outs fundraisers and community building events open to all throughout the school year!
