Ms Meg Starr
Following a decade of teaching at and directing two Harlem-based day care centers, I went back to school, receiving a Masters degree from Columbia University Teacher's College and post graduate work in early childhood education from City College, As director of the Touro College model daycare center for ten years, I also taught at the college level before taking time off to raise my family and focus on writing. Some years after the birth of my son, my first book - Alicia's Happy Day (Star Bright Books, 2007) - was published.
I've tried to continue writing while raising my son and my daughter (along with my husband of over twenty years) in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn - where we live with a bearded dragon lizard, three guinea pigs, one cat and one dog! I love doing everything with my family except cleaning the cat litter! We play cards, watch Arthur, walk the dog and cook together. After several years developing the after-school program for Arts and Letters, I happily began work at PS 20 in 2014.
