PTA General Meeting - Sep 21

Our very first PTA General (that means you!) Membership Meeting is next Thursday, September 21 from 6:00-8:00pm on Zoom (check Konstella for link).

PTA meetings are an opportunity to learn about what is going on at PS20, where families can ask administration and the PTA Board any questions you have, share ideas and opinions on various matters, and learn how to get involved.

We will aim to circulate a draft agenda prior to the meeting and if you have any questions or items you want to make sure are covered on the agenda, please feel free to email board@ps20.org or connect here.

Letter from Meghan Dunn,  Superintendent Community School District 13

Hello PS20 Community! Please see below a letter from Meghan Dunn, Superintendent Community School District 13, with an update for PS20:

August 22, 2023

Dear PS 20 Community,

I hope that everyone is enjoying the last weeks of summer.

I am reaching out to inform you that Principal Lena Barbera Johnson will be retiring as Principal of PS 20, The Clinton Hill School, effective August 31st.

On behalf of District 13, we congratulate Principal Johnson on her many years of service in the Department of Education and thank her for her leadership and commitment to our students and families.

I am excited to announce Nicole Blyden as the new Interim Acting Principal of PS 20, effective September 1, 2023. Ms. Blyden joined the PS 20 Community in 2016 as the Assistant Principal. Throughout her time at the school, Ms. Blyden has been able to develop collaborative relationships with staff, students and families. I look forward to seeing the amazing work at PS 20 continuing under Ms. Blyden’s guidance and leadership.

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Blyden into her new role.

In Partnership,

Meghan Dunn

Back-to-School Updates

On behalf of the PS20 PTA, we hope the entire PS20 community is enjoying a restful and restorative summer break! For both new and returning families, please read through our Back-To-School FAQ for the 2023-24 school year β€” covering drop-off & pick-up information, key dates, school supply lists, etc which will continue to be updated as information becomes available and clarified. Some basic information about After School options and registration have already been posted.

We know parents are eager to learn which classes and teachers your student will be assigned to - please sit tight! The PS20 administration staff are working diligently to prepare for the coming school year, so expect updates on classroom assignments and other general updates at the start of September.

In the meantime, please review the DOE Health & Wellness information to ensure you understand the requirements for your student, as well as the variety of services and other accommodations available in-school.

New families: be sure to have registered your student and submitted all the enrollment forms!

Sincerely,

The PS20 PTA Board
