DANCE: ย Mr. David Chung works with children to spark our innate enjoyment of our minds and bodies, and thus our communities. His unique philosophy of teaching is called Rehumanization โ emphasizing quality over quantity; history over novelty; and people over products.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Mr. Chung holds a B.S. in developmental psychology from University of Pittsburgh, and a M.Ed. from CUNY City College. He has fifteen years of experience as teaching artist, with expertise in teaching physical education, gymnastics, and Mommy and Me classes.
Heโs performed at Carnegie Hall, on CNN, and in stadiums and concert halls in Asia, Europe, and North America. When heโs not teaching or dancing, he DJs and coordinates for Barefoot Boogie, a family-friendly alternative to dance clubs; and writing on his blog, www.CoachDaveMoves.com. He lives in Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn, with his wife Salley and two sons.
FRENCH: ย Ms Valerie McIntosh graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Bilingual education and earned her Masters degree in education from Brooklyn College and has started teaching at PS20 in 1999
GYM: Ms Angelica Cassimiro has a BFA in Dance Education from The University of arts in Philadelphia and is working towards her MS in Physical Education from Brooklyn College. Ms. Cassimiro's passion for wellness and physical activity has roots in her 10 years as a performing and teaching artist. She holds a certification in Yoga and is CPR-AED certified. She is a firm believer that a healthy body is a healthy mind and has that as the main focus in her physical education classes at PS20.
MUSIC: ย Mr. Lonnie Hampton has been teaching since 2002.ย He started as a rotating music teacher in three elementary schools and eventually settled at PS 20. In addition to teaching at the school, he continues to teach applied saxophone at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and William Paterson Jazz University.ย He has been married for 20 years with two teenage kids and adores the game of basketball. His spare time is spent arranging music, practicing, and listening to live jazz in the City.
TECHNOLOGY: ย Ms. Beyinnah Bostick received her BA in Education from Medgers Evers College and a MA in Education from Tuoro College. She started teaching at PS20 in 2002.
